Winterplace has 8 feet of wonderful snow every year and has 9 ski lifts to carry all the skiers up the mountain. There's a great 3-mile-from-start-to-finish class II-III(IV) whitewater run     on Pipestem Creek nearby, the Tom Honaker Road to Bluestone Lake sector. The Tom Honaker Road to Bluestone Lake sector of Pipestem Creek is advised for whitewater paddlers of medium know-how. Nearby there is a fine 2-mile-in-length grade III+(IV) whitewater section, the Madams Creek Road to New River portion of Madams Creek.
