 Important to note that Rugg Brook Reservoir is an active source of drinking water for the residents of Winsted, so remember that you're in the watershed. No swimming, fishing, boating etc. You've missed the Mad River Dam recreation area, right next to Rugg Brook. Great place for hiking, and if you're feeling adventurous, you can scour the mountain for the old aqueduct running from Rugg Brook Res. to Crystal Lake. Says Adam Seidl

Ski Sundown is a good ski hill, everybody likes it. 75% of the runs are easy and appropriate for young ones and beginners.
    The rest of the 65 acres of terrain, 25%, consists of black and red runs. The 5 great ski lifts at the nearby ski hill Ski Sundown bring skiers up to the tops of the 15 runs at Ski Sundown. This nearby ski hill obtains 5 feet of snow per season and has a height difference of 625
feet. Mohawk Mountain is esteemed by skiers; it has 80% easy slopes and 20% challenging slopes. A total of 107 acres of ski terrain in all. Mohawk Mountain, the nearby ski mountain has 6 lifts and gets blanketed by 8 feet of ice cold snow every winter on its 24 slopes.
