Lake Victoria

This is one of the more difficult hikes considering the short distance into the lake. We were able to follow a primitive trail about half way, but the rest of the hike was boulder hopping and brush wacking. Tree downfall from the past fires combined with heavy vegitation makes the nontrail hiking very difficult. It took us 7 hours to hike in with 40 lb. packs. Very limited camping with room for 2 or 3 small tents. Fishing was fair. We caught a dozen thin cutthroat
trout up to 11 inches. The sceneray is beautiful at the lake, but the weather can change rapidly. You had better have very good fitting boots for this steep hike, my feet are killing me. Says Rick Coon
