Lake Whitney has some perfect crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bass, catfish, striped bass, sunfish and white bass. A magnificent 17-mile-from-start-to-finish whitewater stretch on Childress Creek is nearby. This, the Cayote to FM 2490 segment, is a class II-III. This stretch of Childress Creek is advised for paddlers of medium know-how. Don't go paddling in     advance of first checking conditions; it's risky stuff. This lake is so wonderful.
