Boyd Millpond

Who funded the money for the park? Says Sam Cook

There is public access on the lake now. Laurens County Rec District has built a park on the lake with a boat ramp, play ground, restrooms, etc. If you drive on the road that goes past the dam and runs along side the lake, you will see the park entrance. Says DeVore

Finally there is some public access to the Reedy River corridor including Boyds Mill Pond and soon to be at Tumbling Shoals on Hwy
76 near Hickory Tavern where 73 acres have been purchased with settlement money from the 1996 Colonial Pipeline spill. Since I moved to this area in 1992, I have floated the Reedy River corridor in it's entirety by canoe and kayak
down to Lake Greenwood and beyond. This river may be the only river in South Carolina that has actually improved in water quality over the last 20 years. It continues to improve with efforts from the private sector.

Boyds Mill Pond is a jewel in Laurens County and its diversity of flora and fauna will hopefully be preserved for future generations. Says James Clinkscales

There is no public access to Boyd Mill Pond? If I have floated the Reedy River

corridor in it's entirety by canoe and kayak down to Lake Greenwood. Boyd Mill Pond is a beautiful section. There was an access on river right above the dam but someone has purchased the property and put up a no trespassing sign where
the canoe trail is known to be. It is disappointing to me that in Laurens County there are little or no river access points. with few exceptions. Says James Clinkscales

We fish the lake and duck hunt the mouth of the river, and it is very shallow in the upper end of the lake. And drive with caution because of the debris coming out of the river, we've chipped 2 props and replaced a foot once, so just drive with caution. Says Levi C

Please let me
know the safety of the water at Boyds. Says Janet Beebe

Boyd's Mill Pond is a small beautiful pond. The lake is owned by NorthBrook Electric out of Chicago. Most of the boats on the lake belong to the lake residents because there is not public landings. Many residents enjoy water sports such as sking and riding in towables, cruising the lake and fishing. There are not boat restrictions. According to many publications, Boyd's Mill is a great lake to catch large mouth bass and catfish. The majority of the lake is not developed however there has been recent construction of many large homes. Many of the residents decorate their docks during the Christmas season. Overall, the lake is beautiful and very relaxing. Also, many people enjoy walking and fishing at the shoals at the bottom of the damn. Says Smith
