| | I have nothing but fond memories of the summers I spent there as a camper and waiter. About ten years ago, I was in southern NY state and was close enough to visit the place. All of the cabins and most of the other structures were gone. The owners’ cabins were gone as well. The shell of the big building where the canteen was located remained, but the other buildings had been removed. The water front swimming area had been removed. I was able to google some |
of the names of fellow campers. One or two had died. Others like myself were approaching late 70s.
When I drove through, the entire place was deserted. The roads were the same. One could recognize where the ball fields, courts,
| and cafeteria had been. It was well kept, clean, but appeared deserted. Would love to hear from other campers. I’ve googled some
names which I remember from those years and found Howard Hyman and Milton Cross. I know that Howard Turnoff died years ago.

I worked at Sun Mountain Camp in 1979, at that time it was a camp for special needs kids. I had a blast that summer. Says Denise

was a camper at Sun Mountain Camp from 1950 thru 1953. Oh how well I remember what we all did from day to day - - even on those ''rainy days of summer''. Says Sylvan
