Muddy Reservoir

The 69-mile-from-start-to-finish Clarno to Cottonwood section is a class II-III section of whitewater on John Day River. This bit of John Day River is suitable for whitewater paddlers who have been paddling for a while but who are not yet set for the genuinely risky rapids. Whitewater boating can become risky, so check the situation in advance of a trip. This lake is so wonderful. A great place like Ochoco National Forest in the neighborhood of Muddy Reservoir
is too nice to leave out, and Burnt Ranch is a fine local campground.
Burnt Ranch Dispersed is a great campground nearby, and while you're here, you could stop at Currant Creek.
