  You must positively dedicate some time to Jessie Flat since you're here at Big Lake. A visit to Big Lake wouldnít be complete without a tour to nearby Ochoco National Forest; a great spot to camp here at Big Lake is Burnt Ranch. Donít forget to explore Big Dry Lake while you're here at Big Lake; camping is available at Burnt Ranch Dispersed.
Take a side trip to Sorefoot Creek, and a tour to Clarno Rapids will fill your spirit with good feelings. On John
    Day River you come upon the close by Clarno to Cottonwood sector. This is a type II-III, 69-mile-in-length bit of whitewater. Donít count on keeping yourself dry whitewater paddling this bit of John Day River if you're not an proficient whitewater boater.
