Lake Kitchawan

I lived in Kitchawan from 1960 to 1972. Basically grew up there (across from Arthur Roffi as a matter of fact). It was a great place to grow up. I miss it. Says William Eskdale

I was raised and lived in Lake Kitchawan from 1948 to 1968. I have great memories of it Says Arthur Roffi

I used to visit Lake Kitchawan often during the mid 50's to early 60's. My father's sister and brother both owned cottages just up the road from the lake. I used to
swim and fish there. Lots of great memories of Lake Kitchawan Says Bob Melnyk

My mother and father, C. Frank Shaw Jr and Ruth Mills Shaw had a cottage very near Lake Kitchawan before and during WW-II. During the war it was
the escape lodging for Ruth, myself (C. Frank III) and my Grandmother Mills should the New York City area have been attacked. After my parents were divorced, my grandparents Frank C and Anna Shaw had possession of the cottage, which was called ''All-A-Shaw''. The only picture I have is in my own cottage in Jacksonport WI at the moment (framed with the original ''Survey of Accommodations for Evacuees''. I remember as a child, after my Dad moved to Florida, spending
many weekends at the Lake with my Uncle Herb, Grandparents and Aunt Virginia (Dad's sister) her husband William Fehlhaber. My Cousin Craig Fehlhaber also has fond memories of the cottage and lake. Uncle Herb had a red, wooden canoe
in the 1950s and 60s, and I really enjoyed canoeing on the lake with him. We swam from a floating dock just off the beach. The cottage was just up the hill from the central area. My Dad was part of a group of veterans who helped to build a memorial to the service men from the lake community who died during WW-II. When I travel to Jacksonport in May 2010 I will bring the picture taken outside the cottage before WWII back to scan and upload. C. Frank Shaw III, Bloomington IL Says Frank Shaw

My grandparents bought a cottage near the lake before I was born, and my parents built their home next door, where my siblings and I were raised. It's a beautiful place to live, peaceful and close to the changing seasons. Part of me will never leave, in my heart. - JoAnn Smith
