Custom Search     Heather Lake     You'll need more than a day to look at everything Heather Lake has to offer, you can camp at Spruce Tree Campground. If the weather is lovely, you obtain a delightful panorama of Bacon Peak from Heather Lake. Heather Lake is a fine spot to visit for more than one day, Heller Creek is a fine spot to camp nearby. You can see Five Lakes Butte from Heather Lake, and a pleasant close by hotel is Super 8 St. Regis. Heather Lake is a beautiful lake in the Bitterroot     Range. If you love whitewater, there is the Heller Creek to Spruce Tree segment, a class III-IV whitewater stretch on St. Joe River, 16 miles long.   2 years ago we packed into bacon lake in the Idaho bitter root mountains. While there we went cross country to Heather Lake. It looked like there was a trail coming in from the east side of the lake. We would like to find the start of that trail so we can ride in on it as cross country was very steep and at place barely passable.
