The 5.5-mile-from-beginning-to-end Lawson to Idaho Springs sector is a class     III-IV sector of whitewater on Clear Creek. For whitewater kayaking or rafting this part of Clear Creek is an enjoyable place. You find the 1-mile-in-length Silverplume to Georgetown segment of Clear Creek nearby; this is a grade V+ whitewater segment.   We hiked Chicago Lakes Trail to the reservoir - had a picnic there and then go on up to Chicago Lakes.
