Bear Lake

The trail to Bear Lake is switchbacks galore! It is an uphigh climb the whole way. Once you pass the bridge it is all uphill. Fishing is not great, but beautiful lake. We took our family--I, (wife) carried 1 year old in Kelty pack, 5 & 7 year olds girls carried sleeping bags in their packs and hubby carried the rest. (our kids love hiking and do it We were not enjoying the hike as much as the others we have been on because of the steep trail, lots of loose rocks,
narrow paths, and lots of rain. Once up at the lake it was fine and hiking down in the better weather was lots more fun, but since it is mostly downhill I got some blisters with boots that are well broke in. This is NOT a beginner
trail--Aug 2012--there were lots of downed trees that cover the path --and can't be climbed over, you have to go around. Says Amy L
