My father was a horse packer working for Ray Crabtree. In the summer of 1936 at the age of 18 his job was to pack in fingerlings on mules with a game warden to plant the lakes for the first time. Sometimes when they planted a lake there would already be fish there. When this happened the big fish would sweep through the finglings eating them. At this particular lake that happened. The game warden took his gun out and shot the big fish. They named the lake Six Shooter Lake. My father was there when they named the lake. - Bill Dark
