Salt Springs Reservoir

Was just at Salt Springs yesterday. Water is very low. Boat ramp is open but 80+ yards from the water. No snow. Weather was great. Great place to hike. Made it to $500 island. It's 5 miles in and 5 miles out to the other end. Happy Hiking. Apr. 16, 2014 Says An NDN hike

Does anyone know if you can drive w/ 4x from Bear Valley to Salt Springs? Thanks Says Carson

I went to Salt Springs this July for the first time and the place was a dump. Trash,
toilet paper, diapers, trees cut, you name it. It seems that no one has any respect for our natural environment. When people put up signs, take them down when you leave. Learn and begin the Leave No Trace ethics. Says Rick

have been camping at salt springs for a good many years. i find it to be fun and relaxing. me and my friends swing of the rope swing into the water and jump off rocks. they have nice camp areas, and recently added some out houses which is much better, cause a couple years ago there was no bathrooms at all. for a fun weekend trip i would recommend it. we go back every year during the summer at least three times. as matter of fact we are going again this labor
day weekend for 4 days! yay! Says Chantrae Garcia

Do not fish Salt. It is very dangerous due to extremly high winds. Says Dan

Take a small boat and lift it over. That's what me and my friends do. Says William Klith

went to Salt Spring years ago, launched my boat, and boat camped and fished for a few days. I planned the same trip yesterday. We went in when still dark down a narrow 18 mile road from HWY 88. When we got to the dam, we found that the boat ramp was closed to trail launching. There is a small sign that says so near Hwy 88, but its real easy to miss. We read up on Salt Springs in several publications. Nowhere did it mention no boat launching!!! The ramp is still there, but blocked off. I wish PG&E would fix that! Says Bob Shaffer
