You certainly must stop at Castaic Lake State Park if you're here at Lake Piru, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Canton Canyon Trail. Nearby there is a magnificent 4-mile-from-start-to-finish grade II whitewater run, the Lake Piru to Santa Clara River segment of Piru Creek.     This run of Piru Creek is proposed for learner paddlers.
