Moores Beach Custom Search   Just visited Moores Beach this past weekend (10/9/06). Moores Beach Road (aka 2 mile run) no longer takes you directly to the beach. You can drive in about 1/4 mile and park at a sandy lot right past the residences. The rest of the road is filled with shallow to knee-high puddles that you can maneuver with waterproof footwear though some have slightly slippery mud bottoms. Small fiddler crabs scatter upon your approach, egrets take flight and butterflies fill     the bushes along the way. A wonderful sight of the sun on the bay when you reach the beach but the beach is littered with concrete blocks and wires from yesteryear. We even spotted a kitchen sink and a bicycle rusted into the surf. Not the type of beach to set up camp to swim and frolic on, more of a birdwatchers haven. Says Moores Beach is a place where you won’t distinguish full-size crowds, but being here is always exciting. A trip to New Jersey is not complete without some time spent on the beach.
