If you're interested in hydro structures, you can explore Dexter Dam; get dripping wet paddling on McKenzie River.
Lakes? Sure, Fall Creek Lake is in the vicinity, and paddling on Willamette River - Middle Fork is so much fun. Hiking along the Eagles Rest Trail is delightful fun. Going to Lowell State Park is a splendid idea when you need to get out.
