Hudson Highlands State Park Custom Search   This is a popular place for folks from Beacon. Lakes are fine; Hessian Lake is a lake that's close to Hudson Highlands State Park. A nearby type II-IV whitewater run can be found on Fish Kill River; the Beacon sector is 0.25 miles long. This run of Fish Kill River is not a place for beginners to come whitewater boating single-handedly. If you're trying to locate a type IV-V whitewater run to paddle, you're in luck; the to Popolopen Bridge portion is a good 4-mile-in-distance piece of Popolopen Creek. This run of Popolopen Creek is well well suited for     those experienced in whitewater boating. Naturally, whitewater boating is exciting but risky; check circumstances before you go. Bull Hill is scenic and can be seen from Hudson Highlands State Park, and there's some flowing water close by, Wades Brook is a stream you can explore while you're here. The summit of North Beacon Mountain can be seen from Hudson Highlands State Park; if you're here, do take a visit to Target Point.
