  There's a perfect 400-foot altitude difference to enjoy at the close by ski mountain Tuxedo Ridge. Tuxedo Ridge receives 3 feet of good snow per winter, and has 4 good ski lifts serving the 7 ski slopes. Green and blue ski slopes make up 42% of the ski slopes at Tuxedo Ridge, and red and black ones make up 56%. There is a total of 35 acres of skiable area; Tuxedo Ridge is a perfect site to ski. You find the 4-mile-from-start-to-finish to Popolopen Bridge section of Popolopen Creek nearby; this is a grade IV-V whitewater run. It could be said that this
    run of Popolopen Creek is a place for proficient whitewater rafting and kayaking. A category IV(V+), 1-mile-from-start-to-finish whitewater bit can be found on close by Penlolopen Brook, the Queensboro Lake to a mile above 9W segment. Only those skilled in whitewater paddling should
venture to raft this bit of Penlolopen Brook. Raft paddling can get hazardous, so check circumstances before heading out. Don't forget to check out Mystery Point since you're here at Bear Mountain State Park; a wonderful site for whitewater paddling is Popolopen Creek.
