Bear Swamp Upper Reservoir is a wonderful lake close to Monroe State Forest; Monroe State Forest is great enough to spend more than a day at, Clarksburg State Park is a great local campground.
Lots of people from Monroe Bridge come to Monroe State Forest. Lakes? Sure, Dunbar Brook Reservoir is around here. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Dunbar Brook, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Berkshire East while you're here. Go for a hike on the Dunbar Brook Trail. There's so much to do here at Monroe State Forest that you need to camp here for a while, Country Aire Campgrounds is a brilliant spot for that.
Monroe State Forest is a stunning spot where everybody has a wonderful time. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Deerfield River; Holiday Inn BERKSHIRES is a fine location to get some rest.
Throughout the warmest time of the year here at Monroe State Forest, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's while Monroe State Forest night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. Don't leave Monroe State Forest without first going for a hike along the Busby Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Deerfield River offers some great whitewater.
