an overnight stay Middle Fork Campground is a nice spot to camp; you can go for a hike on the Roaring Fork Trail. The summit of Grouse Mountain can be seen from Pearl Lake State Park, and Pearl Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at. There are pleasant places to explore
along the Big Creek Bridge Trail, and why not camp at Poverty Bar Campground if you're here at Pearl Lake State Park. Pearl Lake State Park is a location that is reasonably waterless mostly; all through December this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is February. Going to Pearl Lake State Park is a good idea when you've got to get out of the house. And if that's not sufficient there's lots more enjoyable stuff to do in the Park Range.
