State Parks and Recreation in Alaska With over three million acres, Alaska is home to the largest state park system in the United States and holds nearly one-third of America's state park acreage. Over 130 state park units stretch from the rain forests and fjords of Southeast through the glacier-carved mountains of central Alaska to the rolling hills and birch forests of the Interior.
Hike Alaska  Alaska has some wonderful hikes that vary greatly. One can find anything from day hikes to week long backpacking excursions. Some of the best hiking is only a few minutes driving from civilization, then you hike into complete isolation within nature. Or you can drive to Denali Park or many other wonderful scenic locations.
