Utica Reservoir, Northern Sierra Nevada, Alpine County, California - First Canoe trip here back in 1992. Last trip 4th of July 2006. Great lake to kayak. Last Trip many kayakers. The road is car accessible but rough in spots. Campers at boat launch (hand launch only) are often a drunken rowdy group. Bear warnings now posted but not back in the 1990's. Good fishing. Lake feeds to Union below. Do not expect fish there. DFG is not stocking in 2009. Lake is lowered most years for power generation. Several Islands to camp on. Short off trail hike to Elephant Rock and Summit lakes for die hard trail blazers. Not far from Spicer Meadows. Mid week non holidays expect minimal use. Submitted by Dave Mayer
