The Wind River Range scenery is always beautiful. Warbonnet Lake gets very little rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful.
Hiking along the Scab Creek Trail is great fun, and one of the dominant highlights of the surroundings of Warbonnet Lake is Mitchells Nipple. Now, you may think that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Warbonnet Lake. There are other

spots here than Warbonnet Lake, for example Cross Lake, and whitewater paddling is nice on Bull Lake Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Silver Lake Dam is a place that is near Warbonnet Lake; why not camp at Big Sandy Campground while you're here at Warbonnet Lake.
For the period of the warmest time of the year at Warbonnet Lake temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs through the winter are typically in

the 20's, and nighttime lows at Warbonnet Lake throughout the winter usually drop into the-10's. Yeah, come up here to the Wind River Range for a pleasant time. Warbonnet Lake is right by the Silver Lake Trail, and needless to say Raid Creek is a stunning stream that is worth taking a look at. Upper Silver Lakes is a brilliant lake close to Warbonnet Lake, and do take a hike on the Crossover Trail.
Be careful coming to the Wind River Range, you might not ever wanna go home again. If you need a spot to stay Best Western Pinedale Inn is a good choice, and if you came for an overnight stay Scab Creek Campground is a nice location to camp.

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Sonnicant Lake
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

Scab Lake Trail
scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...

Bears Ears Trail
The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...

Papoose Lake
15 miles away
Lake seemed fishless although a beautiful lake. Was there 2 days and only saw 1 rise. Nice place to camp though as there is low traffic. Make sure you follow outlet to avoid massive rock pile....
