For the period of the summertime here at Wall Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Wall Lake. Pole Creek is a good whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Wall Lake, and going for a hike on the Cook Lake Trail is always a perfect adventure. But wait, there's more cool
things to do in the Wind River Range. In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Boulder Creek, and camping at Boulder Campground is always a tremendous experience.
Just can't get enough of Wall Lake. Wall Lake is not the only location nearby, Tommy Lake is a nearby lake, and don't leave Wall Lake without first going for a hike along the Titcomb Basin Trail. A lake close by is Cook Lakes, and there are

glorious spots to discover along the Indian Pass Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Wind River Range. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Pinedale Inn.
This lake is so wonderful. Elephant Head is a peak you can make out from Wall Lake, and a fine place to camp here at Wall Lake is Boulder Lake Campground. Around Wall Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; during June this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest. Wall Lake is located in the Wind River Range.

Suicide Lake
Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...

Triangle Lake
This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....

Double Lake
13 miles away
Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...

Sonnicant Lake
19 miles away
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

Ice Lakes

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
