There is a brilliant hiking trail close to Thompson Reservoir called the Circle Trail, and North Platte River is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby. Why not stop at Thompson Dam while you're here, and if you've had enough of Thompson Reservoir, Silver Lake is close by. High temperatures at Thompson Reservoir throughout the days of summer are in the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. Through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Thompson Reservoir temperatures dip to the 10's.
