If you like lakes and you're in this part of Wyoming you can check out Texas Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Wind River Range. Texas Lake gets very little rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain, and December is the month with the least moisture. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a tremendous time here at Texas Lake. Texas Lake is right by the Lizard Head Trail. There's so much to do here at Texas Lake that you need to camp here for
a while, Big Sandy Campground is a pleasant place for that.
If you came to camp Dickinson Creek Campground is a great place to do that, and hiking along the Shadow Lake Trail is good fun. A tour to Jackass Pass is always fun; a lake close by is Barren Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
All year is a pleasant time in the Wind River Range if you love the outdoors. You simply must stop at Block Tower while you're here at Texas Lake, and do take a hike on

the Bears Ears Trail. So much exciting stuff to do here in the Wind River Range, too splendid to be true. If you need a location to stay Rodeway Inn Pronghorn Lodge is a wonderful choice; Texas Lake is not the only place nearby, Billys Lake is a nearby lake. During the summer here at Texas Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. Highs all through the winter are generally in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Texas Lake temperatures drop to the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. Here at Texas Lake you can observe Bair Peak, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Bull Lake Creek.

MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Bears Ears Trail
The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...

Papoose Lake
Lake seemed fishless although a beautiful lake. Was there 2 days and only saw 1 rise. Nice place to camp though as there is low traffic. Make sure you follow outlet to avoid massive rock pile....

Ice Lakes

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Sonnicant Lake
10 miles away
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....
