Sportsman Lake is not the only place close by, Lone Tree Reservoir is a close by lake; there's nice hiking along the Pole Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. First Gold Inn is a pleasant place to get some rest, and camping is available at North Fork - Medicine Bow National Forest. Summertime at Sportsman Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and during the night       it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Sportsman Lake are in the 0's. Good hiking is available along the Lincoln Trail, and a tremendous spot for whitewater paddling is Cache La Poudre River - North Fork. At Sportsman Lake you don’t see much precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is January. Camping at Brooklyn Lake - Medicine Bow National Forest is always                  a perfect experience, and if you get bored of Sportsman Lake you could also take a look at close by Sportsman Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Sportsman Dam is an exciting thing to check out; don't leave Sportsman Lake without first going for a hike along the Overland Trail. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves.
