     At Speedway Pit you can catch a sight of Square Top; close by you stumble on the Scab Lake Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. A good nearby hotel is Best Western Pinedale Inn. Not much rainfall falls here at Speedway Pit; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily May, that's the one that rains the most; February is the month with the least moisture. If you came for an overnight stay Ox-yoke Acres Campground is a great place to camp, and Mayo Reservoir  
   is a perfect lake nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. Drift down the rapids of Boulder Creek in a kayak; going for a hike on the Sage Basin Trail is always a tremendous adventure. If you come at the right time of year, Pole Creek offers some tremendous whitewater; Scab Creek Campground is a good local campground. The warmest time of the year at Speedway Pit arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and the night is somewhat chillier of course, generally
 
               in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are frequently in the 20's, and nighttime lows all through the winter for Speedway Pit tend to be in the-10's.
Yep, outdoors enjoyable stuff to do are beyond doubt bountiful here at Speedway Pit. The Emigrant Trail is a pleasant hiking trail near Speedway Pit, and a lovely lake like Desert Reservoir Number 1 is a splendid site to visit.

scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...
