    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Wyoming you can check out Speedway Pit. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Speedway Pit; Scab Lake Trail is a delightful local trail, and Best Western Pinedale Inn is a nice location to get some rest. It is very dehydrated here at Speedway Pit generally; May is the month that gets the most rain while February is usually the driest month. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Not far from Speedway Pit,  
   you'll locate Mayo Reservoir which is a striking lake; Speedway Pit is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Scab Creek Campground is a nice place to camp nearby.
Ox-yoke Acres Campground is a wonderful local campground, and the Sage Basin Trail offers hiking at its best. Through the months of summer, highs frequently are in the 70's at Speedway Pit while night lows are mostly in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's;
 
               overnight lows in the-10's for Speedway Pit. Lakes? Sure, Desert Reservoir Number 1 is around here.
Float down the rapids of Boulder Creek in a kayak, and the sight of Square Top is striking. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Pole Creek; there's good hiking along the Emigrant Trail.

scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...
