There's whitewater on Pole Creek for all you adrenaline people, and Scab Creek Campground is a tremendous local campground. At Speedway Pit you don’t see much rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. All through the long summer days at Speedway Pit temperatures are generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter       come with highs in the 20's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Speedway Pit dip into the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Sage Basin Trail, and why not camp at Ox-yoke Acres Campground while you're here at Speedway Pit. So much amusing stuff to do here at Speedway Pit, too delightful to be true. Near Speedway Pit you stumble on the Emigrant Trail which is a good hiking trail. Square Top is clearly visible from                  Speedway Pit, and if you need a spot to stay Best Western Pinedale Inn is a tremendous choice.
