The Wind River Range scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Hoback River near Shoal Lake, and at Shoal Lake you can catch a sight of Black Peak. And if that's not enough there's a load more fun stuff to do in the Wind River Range. Good hiking is available along the Sawmill Park Trail. At Shoal Lake you don’t see much rain; the wettest month       of the year is frequently January, that's the one that snows the most while July is ordinarily the driest month. Shoal Lake is a delightful location to visit for more than one day, Kozy Campground is a delightful location to camp nearby, and Colter Bay Village is a great spot to get some rest. You could also stop at MacLeod Lake while you're here at Shoal Lake; it's close by, and going for a hike on the Granite Highline Trail is always a magnificent adventure.                  You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Go for a hike on the High Line Trail, and if you've had enough of Shoal Lake, The Six Lakes is close by. Just can't get enough of the Wind River Range. Get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Granite Creek, and Granite Creek Campground is a great campground nearby. During the warm days of summer at Shoal Lake temperatures are generally in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's.
