A lake close by is Lakes of the Rough. High temperatures at Shell Lake throughout the warmest time of the year are in the 60's while overnight lows are frequently in the 30's. Shell Lake is a location that is rather dried out ordinarily; of all the months in a year April is       the one with the most snow while February is typically the driest month. You clearly must love the Bighorn Mountains. Little Shell Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by; you can hit the slopes at Antelope Butte close by. These mountains rock, just explore all the exciting things to do in the Bighorn Mountains. The Passage Resort at Big Horn is a tremendous site to get some rest, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Shell Lake; North High Park                  Trail is a nice local trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bighorn Mountains. The Kinky White Trail offers hiking at its best, and getting to Porcupine Creek from Shell Lake is simple. Big Horn Ski has good slopes and a friendly staff, and Medicine Lodge Lake Campground is a wonderful campground nearby. Man, is there a load of fun things to do right next door to Shell Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Paintrock Creek, and there's magnificent hiking along the Edelman Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
