The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Scotch Plunge fall into the 0's. This lake                  is so wonderful. Big Spring is an inspiring site to visit while you're here, and Red Lane Gulch is in close proximity, and is a good spot. Take a hike on the Johnson Trail, and Devils Punch Bowl is a picturesque spot any time of year. Cover Slough is a swamp next to Scotch Plunge, and if the weather is beautiful, you acquire a great panorama of Monument Hill from Scotch Plunge.
