Poacher Lake is always a pleasure to visit. And if that's not enough there's a heap more amusing stuff to do in the Bighorn Mountains. Antelope Butte has tremendous slopes and a friendly staff. On a great day at Poacher Lake you can take a hike along the Main Paint Rock Trail, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Big Horn Ski. Just can't get enough of the Bighorn Mountains. Don’t forget to visit Teepee Pole Flats if you're here at

For the duration of the warm months at Poacher Lake temperatures are usually in the 60's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Poacher Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. most snow while February is ordinarily the driest month. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Paintrock Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot close by; Lower Paint Rock Lake Campground is a great local campground.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Bighorn Mountains. Upper Paint Rock Lake Campground is a magnificent campground nearby; going for a hike on the Kinky White Trail is always a delightful adventure. This lake is so wonderful.
There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Poacher Lake called the North High Park Trail; paddling on Tensleep Creek is so much fun.
