Perry Lake is always a pleasure to visit. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Pole Creek. Lakes? Sure, Macs Lake is around here. Not much rainfall falls here at Perry Lake; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. You absolutely ought to have a thing about the Wind River Range. Best Western Pinedale Inn is a magnificent spot to get some rest, and don't leave Perry Lake without first paying

Perry Lake is one of the lakes here in the Wind River Range. Having a delightful time at Perry Lake is trouble-free. If you come at the right time of year, Boulder Creek offers some good whitewater, and there's brilliant hiking along the Lake Ethel Trail. Summertime highs at Perry Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the | |

20's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Perry Lake tend to be in the-10's.
This lake is so wonderful. There are other places here than Perry Lake, for example Chris Lake; hiking is a popular thing to do around Perry
Lake; Boulder Canyon Trail is a splendid local trail. Scab Creek Campground is a glorious campground nearby, and the Horseshoe Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. Man, is there a lot of amusing things to do in the Wind River Range. Stay the night at Boulder Campground.

Hay Pass Trail
 | I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?... |
Scab Lake Trail
| scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole... |

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork.... |
