Lake Nelson is pretty waterless frequently; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. The summit of Mount Lester can be observed from Lake Nelson; getting to Monument Creek from Lake       Nelson is trouble-free. So much amusing stuff to do in the Wind River Range, not enough time. Going for a hike along the Cook Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; get dripping wet paddling on Boulder Creek. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Tommy Lake; if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Seneca Lake Trail. Summer at Lake Nelson arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Lake Nelson. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Wind River Range. A wonderful nearby hotel is Hampton Inn Suites Pinedale, and camping at Trails End Campground is always a perfect experience. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Lake Nelson, you'll discover Pole Creek Lakes which is a beautiful lake, and hiking along the Indian Pass Trail is brilliant fun.
