Wyoming has many beautiful lakes and Milky Lakes is one of them. The Wind River Range scenery is always beautiful. Milky Lakes is pretty arid frequently; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. All year is a pleasant time in the Wind River Range if you have a thing about the outdoors.
So much cool stuff to do here in the Wind River Range, too fine to be true. Don't leave Milky Lakes without first going

for a hike along the Firehole Trail; since you're here, you could also explore scenic Long Lake. During the summer months at Milky Lakes temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are typically in the 30's with temperatures at Milky Lakes dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Stay the night at Boulder Campground, and
paddling on Bull Lake Creek is so much fun.
There are tremendous locations to look at along the Europe Canyon Trail; do stop by Glacier Lake, it's a delightful lake. Scab Creek Campground is a good campground nearby, and a fine nearby hotel is Best Western Pinedale Inn. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Hay Pass Trail, and hey, Milky Creek is a fine local stream.

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...

Sonnicant Lake
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Suicide Lake
15 miles away
Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....

Double Lake
17 miles away
Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...

Triangle Lake
18 miles away
This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....
