    Many people like to go to Mayo Reservoir. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area next to Mayo Reservoir has to offer. This is a nice vicinity for people who like lakes. Square Top Reservoir Number 6 is a lake close by. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Boulder Creek; you can have a perfect hiking adventure along the Emigrant Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Square Top is striking and can be seen from Mayo Reservoir,  
   and Ox-yoke Acres Campground is a delightful campground nearby.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Speedway Pit is in the vicinity of Mayo Reservoir, and Best Western Pinedale Inn is a delightful site to get some rest. Going for a hike along the Jim Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and Mayo Reservoir is a good place to visit for more than one day, Scab Creek Campground is a good place to camp nearby. For the duration of the summer at Mayo
 
               Reservoir highs are typically in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and night lows through the winter for Mayo Reservoir tend to be in the-10's.
Mayo Reservoir is frequently a relatively dried out location; May is the month that gets the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...
