Paul Number 3 Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to, and don't leave Maxwell Reservoir without first going for a hike       along the Story Penrose Trail. Maxwell Dam is a pretty site close to Maxwell Reservoir, and if you need a site to stay Sheridan-Days Inn is a splendid choice. At Maxwell Reservoir you don’t see much precipitation; May is when you get the most rain here; February is the month with the least moisture. What a site this is for outdoors people. Camping is available at Sheridan/Big Horn Mountains KOA; you'll meet a lot of people from Sheridan here. There's great                  hiking along the Stockwell Trail; hiking is a popular thing to do around Maxwell Reservoir; Penrose Park Trail is a wonderful local trail. Camping at Peter D's RV Park is always a great experience, and Allens Draw is also a splendid spot to discover. This lake is so wonderful. If you get bored of Maxwell Reservoir, you could also visit close by Kahn and Roberts Reservoir; dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn Sheridan.
