It is very dried out here at Lydle Lake typically; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; December meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Middle Fork Trail is wonderful fun; Big Sandy Campground is a nice campground nearby. The Wind River Range scenery is always beautiful.
Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Yellow Trail; Bull Lake Creek has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby. Yep, outdoors

fun stuff truly is abundant here in the Wind River Range. Paradise Basin is a charming spot any time of year; if you need a spot to stay Super 8 Dubois is a great choice. Any time is a tremendous time at Lydle Lake if you love the outdoors. You could also visit Paradise Lakes since you're here at Lydle Lake; it's close by.
During the summer here at Lydle Lake, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures

drop down into the 40's. All through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Lydle Lake temperatures fall to the 10's. Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

Ice Lakes
1 PHOTO
I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Bears Ears Trail
13 miles away
The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...

Hay Pass Trail
13 miles away
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...

Papoose Lake
18 miles away
Lake seemed fishless although a beautiful lake. Was there 2 days and only saw 1 rise. Nice place to camp though as there is low traffic. Make sure you follow outlet to avoid massive rock pile....

Scab Lake Trail
19 miles away
scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...
