You just ought to have a thing about the Wind River Range. A beautiful lake like West Echo Lake close to Long Lake is a magnificent place to stop by, and nearby you locate the High Meadow Trail which is a good hiking trail. Do check out East Echo Lake in the neighborhood of Long Lake, it's a delightful lake, and going for a hike on the Smith Lake Trail is always a delightful adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Dickinson Creek Campground if you're
here at Long Lake, and there is a pleasant hiking trail close by called the Ice Lakes Trail.
If you came for an overnight stay Big Sandy Campground is a great spot to camp; after a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Pronghorn Lodge is a good location to spend a night or two. For the duration of the summer at Long Lake highs are typically in the 80's, and the night is slightly cooler of course, mostly in the 40's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in

the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Long Lake. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do close to Long Lake.
This lake is located in the wonderful Wind River Range. Long Lake gets very little rain; during May this area sees the most rain; December is when it's the driest.

Gustave Lake

I was told by my Grandmother (Olive Bentley) that this lake was named for her father Gustave States, the owner of the Canyon Ranch. He had homesteaded Sinks Canyon and the surrounding area, where my grandmother remained until just prior to her death in 1976 at the age of 96....

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
