Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Absaroka Range. If you come at the right time of year, Clarks Fork Yellowstone River offers some tremendous whitewater. Lakes are glorious; Night Lake is a lake that's near Island Lake. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. If you came to camp Long Lake Campground is a good location to do that; don't leave Island Lake without first going for a hike along the       Beauty Lake Trail. All through the summertime, highs typically are in the 70's at Island Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 30's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Island Lake are in the 0's. There's wonderful hiking along the Beartooth Highlakes Trail, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Red Lodge Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody                  but if it's for you then we recommend Clarks Fork Yellowstone River; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Meadow Lake. All the outdoors amusing stuff in the Absaroka Range will keep you coming back persistently. There's so much to do here at Island Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Island Lake Campground is a delightful place for that. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Island Lake; Lewis and Clark Trail is a nice local trail, and Yodeler Motel is a fine site to get some rest.
