Island Lake is frequently a quite dry place; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is December. The warmest time of the year at Island Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Island Lake. Life's too short       to enjoy all the cool things in the Wind River Range. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Petes Lake Trail, and if you came to camp Popo Agie Campground is a pleasant place to do that. If you would like a little side spree, try Atlantic Canyon, and Island Lake is not far at all from Riverton. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Island Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fiddlers Lake Campground is a wonderful location for                  that. The Stough Creek Basin Trail offers hiking at its best, and Rodeway Inn Pronghorn Lodge is a great spot to get some rest. If only every spot had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great earth it would be. Lakes are such calm places, why not have a look at Leg Lake near Island Lake; if you come at the right time of year, Middle Popo Agie River offers some glorious whitewater. So many exciting things in the Wind River Range, just phenomenal. After a long day outdoors Best Western Inn At Lander is a magnificent place to spend a night or two, and a pretty lake like Gustave Lake is a great location to visit. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Christina Lake Trail; on a gorgeous day you get a glorious view of Cony Mountain from Island Lake.
