This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous location to camp here at Horseshoe Lake is Boulder Campground, and get your pulse rate up on the pleasant whitewater of Pole Creek. If you're here at Horseshoe Lake, you could take a look at Little Fall Creek, and there's great hiking along the Horseshoe Lake Trail. You believe that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Boulder Creek, and dry
warm beds await you at Best Western Pinedale Inn.
Why not camp at Boulder Lake Campground since you're here at Horseshoe Lake, and there are other sites here than Horseshoe Lake, for example Lake George. The warmest time of the year at Horseshoe Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 40's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; overnight lows through the winter for Horseshoe Lake tend to be in

the-10's. Now, you may believe that's heaps but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Wind River Range. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Timico Lake Trail.
Horseshoe Lake is a beautiful lake in the Wind River Range. Not much rainfall falls here at Horseshoe Lake; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. And if that's not sufficient there's a heap more amusing stuff to do in the Wind River Range. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Horseshoe Lake; Ruff Lake Trail is a great local trail; not far from Horseshoe Lake you'll locate Coyote Lake which is a beautiful lake.

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...

Scab Lake Trail
scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...

Suicide Lake
Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....

Triangle Lake
11 miles away
This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....

Ice Lakes

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Sonnicant Lake
17 miles away
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

Double Lake
19 miles away
Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...
