Summertime highs at Hatchet Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Hatchet Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Hatchet Lake that you need to camp here       for a while, Mirror Lake Campground is a great spot for that, and there are other sites here than Hatchet Lake, for example Middle Long Lake. Man, is there a load of enjoyable stuff to do in the Medicine Bow Mountains. One of the dominant characteristics of the surroundings of Hatchet Lake is Medicine Bow Peak, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend North Platte River. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff close                  to Hatchet Lake will keep you coming back time and again. If you came to camp Lewis Lake Campground is a great spot to do that, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Hatchet Lake; Lakes Trail is a great local trail. Around Hatchet Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May; February on the other hand is the driest. So much exciting stuff to do here in the Medicine Bow Mountains, too great to be true. First Enlargement of Wiant Dam has good water scenery and it's in close proximity to Hatchet Lake, and brilliant hiking is available along the Medicine Bow Trail. The Circle Trail offers hiking at its best, and lakes are such calm spots, why not go to Vosseller Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The Snowy Range is a major highlight of the vicinity around Hatchet Lake.
