It's always fun to stop by Golden Lake. Golden Lake is located in the Wind River Range. Summertime highs at Golden Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. All through the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Golden Lake. Any time is a tremendous time at Golden Lake if you fancy the outdoors. Why not camp at Longhorn RV & Motel if you're here at

| | Golden Lake, and there's some flowing water close by, Phillips Creek is a stream you can visit during your stay. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Wind River Range. Wind River - East Fork is a wonderful whitewater spot next to Golden Lake; a tremendous place like Burro Flat here at Golden Lake is too great to miss. A lake nearby is Dinwoody Lakes, and if you need a location to stay Super 8 Motel - Dubois is a wonderful choice. If you came for | |

an overnight stay Circle Up Camper Court Shop is a delightful place to camp, and you can go for a hike on the Ross Lake Trail. Just can't get enough of the Wind River Range. You could also visit Upper Phillips Lake while you're
here at Golden Lake; it's close by, and close by you find the Dinwoody Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. A good place for whitewater paddling in the vicinity of Golden Lake is Wind River, and going
for a hike on the Ink Wells Trail is always a great adventure. Not much rainfall falls here at Golden Lake; during June this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Pinedale Inn is a great site to get some rest.

Double Lake
Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...
Ross Lake Trail
In four days four of us caught 13 fish over 20 inches and 27 fish overall, none of which were less than 14 inches. Campsites are plentiful and established. Great views of other mountain lakes beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The trail is very nice and well marked the entire way. All the climbing is worth every minute once you see the lake....Ross Lake wasn't worth the trip. Horrible fishing and rough trail. I'd recommend other destinations over Ross Lake. Lots of the forest in the area has burned and is not very scenic....
Suicide Lake
16 miles away Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....
Triangle Lake
17 miles away This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....
Hay Pass Trail
18 miles away I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...
