There are some fine whitewater spots on Clarks Fork Yellowstone River, and a fine site to camp here at Fort Lake is Long Lake Campground. So much enjoyable stuff to do at Fort Lake, so little time. Sawtooth Meadows is right here at Fort Lake, and what would winter be without some skiing at Red Lodge Mountain. Fort Lake is located in the Absaroka Range. But wait, there's more fun things to do       in the Absaroka Range. There's splendid hiking along the Beartooth Loop National Recreation Trail, and a glorious nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Red Lodge. This lake is so wonderful. Having a pleasant time in the Absaroka Range is uncomplicated. Camping is available at Island Lake Campground; if you need a spot to stay Cary Inn is a great choice. Summertime highs at Fort Lake regularly tend to be in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily                  in the 30's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are usually in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Fort Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Clarks Fork Yellowstone River; the Lewis and Clark Trail offers hiking at its best. From a rain point of view Fort Lake is a reasonably normal place; the month with most of the rain is June; October is when it's the driest.
