Going for a hike on the Yellowstone River Trail is always a delightful adventure, and do take a look at Elk Creek since you're here at Floating Island Lake. Floating Island Lake gets very little rain; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most; February on the other hand is the driest. Floating Island Lake is a beautiful lake in the Absaroka Range.

good place to pop by near Floating Island Lake, and Lava Creek Campgrounds is a great campground here. During the days of summer highs here at Floating Island Lake get into the 80's while night lows are typically in the 50's. Throughout
the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Floating Island Lake.
