This lake is so wonderful. Looking for some flowing water? Try Coal Creek, and tremendous water scenery is available at Uhl Dam right next door to Elk Ranch Reservoir. The amount of precipitation that falls at Elk Ranch Reservoir is close to the national average; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow; the driest month of the year is July. You can       spot Uhl Hill from Elk Ranch Reservoir, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Gros Ventre River. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Elk Ranch Reservoir; Lava Creek Trail is a pleasant local trail, and if you want a little side tour, try Coal Mine Draw. You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Colter Bay Village RV Park is a glorious local campground, and there are some glorious whitewater spots on Ditch Creek. Don't                  leave Elk Ranch Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Emma Matilda Lake Trail; if you came for an overnight stay Lava Creek Campground is a magnificent spot to camp. After a long day outdoors Colter Bay Village is a glorious place to spend a night or two, and a lake nearby is Uhl Reservoir. There's great hiking along the Two Ocean Lake Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Togwotee Mountain Lodge. A trip to Grand Teton National Park is worthwhile, obviously you could also have a look at Toppings Lakes since you're here; it's not far at all. For the period of the warmest time of the year here at Elk Ranch Reservoir, high temperatures usually get into the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 30's.
