Around Elk Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; of all the months in a year April is the one with the most snow, and the driest month of the year is February. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Bighorn Mountains. Cloud Peak Dam is a pretty spot near Elk Lake, and why not camp at Circle Park Campground since you're here at Elk Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing       hike along the Angeline Trail. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! Elk Lake is peerless! If you're here at Elk Lake, you could explore Elk Creek, and camping is available at Highland Park Campground. So many exciting things in the Bighorn Mountains, just incredible. Do stop at Flatiron Lake right next door to Elk Lake, it's a scenic lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Elk Lake; Solitude Trail is a glorious local trail. This lake is so wonderful.                  Paddling on Tensleep Creek is so much fun, and dry warm beds await you at Sheridan-Days Inn. The peak of Ant Hill can be made out from Elk Lake; you'll hit upon a wonderful lake called Cloud Peak Reservoir. Summertime at Elk Lake comes with high temperatures in the 60's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Elk Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Clear Creek, and Elk Lake is right by the Penrose Park Trail.
