This site, the Bighorn Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. There's so much to do here at Elk Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Highland Park Campground is a perfect place for that, and in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clear Creek. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Bighorn Mountains, not sufficient time. There is a great hiking trail in close proximity       to Elk Lake called the Angeline Trail, and if you're here, you could also have a look at wonderful Frying Pan Lake. Elk Lake is one of the lakes here in the Bighorn Mountains. Take a little spree to Elk Creek since you're here at Elk Lake; Tensleep Creek has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious close by hotel is Sheridan-Days Inn. Elk Lake is frequently a pretty dried out site; April is the wettest month with most                  snow, and February is the month with the least moisture. The Solitude Trail is a great hiking trail close to Elk Lake; there's some out of the ordinary stuff to catch a sight of at Cloud Peak Dam in close proximity to Elk Lake. Yep, outdoors cool stuff to do are beyond doubt abundant here at Elk Lake. Near Elk Lake you stumble on the Penrose Park Trail which is a great hiking trail; Elk Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Circle Park Campground is a nice local campground. High temperatures at Elk Lake throughout the summertime are in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Elk Lake temperatures fall to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.
