In Wyoming there are many beautiful lakes, Dutch Oven Lake is one of them. This lake is one of the great places here in the Wind River Range. Dutch Oven Lake is a location that is rather waterless regularly; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and December on the other hand is the driest. All year is a glorious time in the Wind River Range if you like the outdoors. While you're here at Dutch Oven Lake you can take a hike along the

Cathedral Peak is a peak you can spot from Dutch Oven Lake; you can have a good hiking adventure along the Moss Lake Trail. Camping is available at Dickinson Creek Campground, and if you've had enough of Dutch Oven Lake, Valentine Lake is close by. Now, you may think that's a lot but there's even more cool stuff to do here at | |

Dutch Oven Lake. If the weather is great here at Dutch Oven Lake, you can go for a hike along the Washakie Trail, and Bull Lake Creek has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot nearby. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining
stuff in the Wind River Range. A wonderful nearby hotel is Rodeway Inn Pronghorn Lodge; if you came for an overnight stay Big Sandy Campground is a wonderful site to camp. This lake is so wonderful. All through the summertime months
at Dutch Oven Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Dutch Oven Lake sink into
the 10's. Do set aside some time for Ranger Park since you're here at Dutch Oven Lake, and it's a splendid idea to stop by Gaylord Creek.

Bears Ears Trail
The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...
Papoose Lake
Lake seemed fishless although a beautiful lake. Was there 2 days and only saw 1 rise. Nice place to camp though as there is low traffic. Make sure you follow outlet to avoid massive rock pile....
Ice Lakes
10 miles away 1 PHOTO I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
Sonnicant Lake
10 miles away Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....
